I recently read a blog about a woman who decided to wear a scarf a day, and thought….yea, I could do that too. This woman had a big basket by her front door that held all her scarves, and as she went out the door, she grabbed an appropriate one for her outfit.
Well, I don’t have enough scarves to do that in reality. But, adding a scarf to either your winter or summer outfit, does give you that little extra something that we fashion girls all strive after. Where I live, we’re smack in the middle of Spring and heading into Summer. Scarves still rule — even if it’s hot. Think long and skinny scarves, with some interesting detail shimmer or metallic hanging bling, for extra wow. Just be sure the scarf is lightweight, no woolens, and make sure at least a color or two matches the rest of your outfit.

I’m not ashamed to say that I love clogs. I’ve been a fan of them for several years now, and actually wasn’t too surprized to see them pop up at Chanel for the 2010 Spring/Summer collection.
Clogs rock…really! They can be worn several different ways — with socks and jeans in the winter, or even tights and a dress or skirt. Or with bare legs paired with shorts, dresses, skirts and leggings. Ive even had an open-toed clog that I’ve paired with black socks and jeans in the winter.
Attached are some links to some clogs with a twist — these are “clog boots” — check them out. I’m going to buy a pair……I just can’t decide which ones!

I was strolling down the southern end of King Street in Sydney’s happenin’ Newtown and came across this little boutique that sells the coolest cardigans. They really capture that naughty librarian look while also coming off kind of cool and punky.
I loved the look and see they’re also available on-line. They’re a price-friendly $89 and come in three colors: black, red and pink. They also have some sweet embroidery added to the front to give it that individual little bling.

For a fun night out, snazz up your eyes with this cool sparkling eyeliner. Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter Liner comes in 11 different fun shades and gives you jewel-encrusted eyes that look fabulous for a night out dancing.
You can create a great sparkling eyeliner look by using the thin tip of the applicator, or use the side and kind of swipe it on your eyelids, like you would an eyeshadow. For a more intense effect you may need to reapply the product a couple of times, allowing it to try between each application. But, the results are amazing and look great. The price is right too — it retails for about $18 a tube.

I’ve long been a fan of eyebrow kits — especially Benefit’s Brow Zings. I’ve repurchased that kit 3 times and have never been disappointed.
Just recently it was time to yet again, replace my eyebrow kit and this time I thought I’d try something new. I’m all about embracing mineral make-up at the moment, so thought I’d stick with my new favorite make-up brand, Jane Iredale, and give their brow kit a go.
This kit comes with two different eyebrow shades, so you can customize your eyebrow pencil for a customized look. It also comes with my must-have product — the wax liner, to tame brows and keep them in control. And, there’s also an eyelid primer, to conceal redness and ready my lids for eyeshadow, if I choose to wear any. This primer is comparable to Benefit’s Lemonaid product, which I also own, but had to purchase separately at Benefit. The Jane Iredale kit includes it, which seems like a great idea to me.
To finish off the kit there are two application brushes included and a pair of mini tweezers. I still go back to my Tweezerman tweezers, but if I’m traveling I may just grab my eyebrow kit and go.

I just love my Havaianas — and I’ll admit it, they are the shoe I wear most often. I’m completely enamored with the basic black style (with Havaianas written in stylish silver on the top). These flip-flops have never failed me, style-wise or comfort-wise and can go with a dressy look, a casual look, and of course that warm beachy look. I live in the antipodes, so I can even get away with them for a winter look — just add a scarf around my neck.
I also have a pair that I call my “slippers” that I only wear in my home. And, whenever I travel I wear them as my travel shoe — they easily slide ride off to go through airport security, and then slide right back on to wear in the yucky airplane loos.
They are that comfortable. If you haven’t tried this brand of thongs yet, you’ve been missing a lot.

I just love reading advice blogs on how to look stylish without spending all your hard earned cash. I found the above links recently and love their advice.
Next time I do a Target run, I will seek out muted tones, rather than the harsh over-saturated colored things that scream out to me. I’ll also go for alternate neutrals such as gray, which appear more sophisticated than black, and will not fade after the first few washes. Plus, anything gray will go fabulously with my yet-to-be-purchased new nude pumps!
I’ll also carefully study the fashion accessory aisles for brushed, matte jewellry and handbags in interesting, muted colors with trendy shapes. And I will not be afraid to enter a thrift shop — armed with a well thought out trendy wish list.

This is a trend you either love or just let pass on by — the “jegging” or faux denim legging. I’ve already seen them on a few gals about town, and know American Apparel has a few different styles to choose from.
I particularly like how Sienna Miller is wearing hers in this photo:
I think they look okay, as long as they’re worn like a pair of leggings, and NOT like a pair of jeans (unless maybe you’re a pole dancer, and these jeggings are part of your winter uniform).
But, paired with a mini-dress, tunic tops, loose and long t-shirts and flat-ish shoes like ballet flats or low-heeled boots, then the look is fine and shows you know how to add a little pizzazz to your wardrobe and embrace a fun trend.

A few weeks ago I read that nude heels were one of the five must have items for the season. I still don’t own a pair, but now realize I need to get moving, and buy a pair — quick!
I’ve found this great site that discusses the many intracacies of shopping for the perfect-for-you nude heel, complete with color tone recommendations, etc. The site is geared toward the collge girl, but the knowledge can definitely be applied to women across the board.
Some key points I took away were to try to sort of match the nude color to your skin tone, without creating a perfect match, which can look a little old lady-ish. Also, these shoes are an investment — so try to splurge on the best pair you can afford. They can be incorporated into your current wardrobe seamlessly — wear them with skinny jeans, dresses, skirts, black cigarette pants, even shorts! These heels will dramatically lengthen your legs, and will perhaps even become your go-to shoe for going out at night. You can now rotate your black heels and give them a rest, plus show the world your fashion sense.

I’ve been researching the new trends in hair for 2009/2010 and I’m told “….put your GHD straighteners away and embrace your crimping irons!” It’s a bit much, I think — but back combing, crimping and finger-in-the-plug-socket hair is the way to go these days. Just tame it down a tad for your every day at the office look.
